Hair transplants are becoming more popular day by day. More people are actively looking for solutions to address their thinning hair. With the increasing number of hair transplant seekers, the number of hair transplant practitioners is also increasing. But whether these can all perform a good hair transplant is another story.

On the internet and social media, there are now more than dozens of different hair transplant clinics within 10 kilometers of you.

As ideal as this sounds, it does not come without costs. 2/10 hair transplants are Not successful rounded. To protect you (and your hair) against a bad hair transplant, this article explains the biggest differences between good and bad hair transplants.

1.   Naturalness

First and foremost and often the most important thing for the patient is the naturalness of the hair transplant: “will my hair look natural after the treatment?”

When you have good hair transplant treatment the implanted hair will be indistinguishable from the rest of the hair. With the naked eye you would never be able to see that a hair transplant is present.

The most natural treatments for hair transplants are follicular unit extractions (FUE). In this treatment, healthy hair follicles are successfully implanted into bald areas on the scalp without any noticeable scarring unlike follicular unit transplantation (FUT).

This makes the expertise of the treating surgeon also makes a big difference in the natural appearance of the hair. This person knows how the implanted follicle units should be placed in order to stimulate the most natural possible hair growth that matches the patient's natural hair.

Because anyone can pretend to be a hair transplant specialist via the internet, we cannot say it often enough to do as much research as possible about the clinic and the practitioner. Therefore, be sure to ask for the diploma of the treating physician if you have any doubts. This should be possible at the hair transplant clinic itself or with the surgeon.

At the hair transplant clinic FueGenix Our expertise lies in placing the most natural hair implants. Look at here examples of the most natural hair transplants in the Netherlands!

When you have poorly performed hair transplant it is very clear to see that there is a difference between the natural hair and the implanted hair. The implanted hair looks different from the natural hair and is often described as pluggy. This means that the implanted hair resembles large groups of hair next to each other. So not as a whole.

These results are common with older hair transplant techniques, such as the plug method.

2.   Placement

The next visible feature is the placement of the hair implants.

When you have hair transplant treatment that has been carried out properly, the hair at the back or side of the head is removed using small circular movements. This stimulates the removal process of the healthy hair follicles to the transplant areas. This is done accurately during a fue hair transplant. Learn more about this here fue hair transplants in the Netherlands.

This placement, if performed by a certified surgeon, ensures proper placement of the hair grafts. This surgeon will also have the correct knowledge about the number of hair grafts that will be needed for the area to be treated.

When you have bad hair transplant the hair is not placed in the right places, in the right amounts and from the right angles. What happens then is that the hair appears again unnatural looks as well as can be experienced as 'ugly'.

In this case too, the result depends on the treating physician. His knowledge and experience will determines success for the results of the hair transplant.

3.   Scars

Scars are then a good indication of the quality of a hair transplant. Because these are logically experienced as very negative by hair transplant patients, it is important to understand when and why proven scars can arise during a transplant treatment.

It is important to understand that during modern fue hair transplantation there is going to be small circular movements individual hair follicle units are removed. This means that it is no longer necessary to remove a piece of scalp, which is a requirement for the FUT.

No sutures are required with the fue technique. What can happen is that small circular scars may appear in places where the hair has been extracted. However, these scars are small and invisible when the treatment is performed by a qualified doctor.

During the treatment you will always be given a local anesthetic. So you will not feel what happens during the treatment. The type of anesthesia used will of course depend on the hair transplant clinic you have chosen.

A most modern method in which the hair transplant is performed accurately by removing the hair follicle units through small circular movements is the sapphire hair transplant.

When you have bad hair transplant you experience visible scars because too much hair is removed from a donor area.

So, even though hair transplantation is a surgical procedure, there is no need to leave a scar. Provided, of course, that it has been carried out correctly and by an experienced practitioner.

4.   Hair thickness

This next feature has everything to do with hair growth after a hair transplant. The reason for a hair transplant is always that you want more hair. When the hair is sparse/grows after a treatment, patients are logically disappointed. However, this disappointment does not have to occur provided the right clinic and doctor have been chosen.

When you have properly performed hair transplant the hair will grow in the same way as the body's own natural healthy hair. The implanted hair will therefore be indistinguishable from the natural hair.

When you have bad hair transplant the hair will grow thinner than the natural hair. This is not aesthetically pleasing to see. In addition, you as a patient will most likely still not be satisfied with your hair in the same way as before the treatment.

5.   Donor recovery

The last point concerns the donor area. The recovery of the donor area is important for the end result of the hair transplant.

After the treatment has healed, you should not be able to see that hair has been removed from that area at the donor site. At one good treatment this is also the case.

When you have failed treatment you don't see that on the donor area too much hair has been removed. This looks like an empty spot on the scalp with less hair. Some patients even experience this as 'hair loss' after treatment, because there is now less or no hair growth in other places (read: donor areas).

When you have bad hair transplant it can happen that the hair transplant specialist extracts too many hair grafts. This will be overharvesting named. And this ultimately results in visible thin hair spots in the donor area. In some cases it is even so bad that complete donor alopecia develops. Read something here alopecia is.

In this case it is better not to perform a hair transplant or to perform it.

What is important when choosing between hair transplants

Choosing the right practitioner is therefore crucial when considering a hair transplant. The above points are the most important for you as a hair loss leader to pay attention to if you want a successful hair transplant.

In addition to the practitioner, it is of course also important to choose the right clinic. The surplus of hair transplant clinics in the Netherlands is enormous. But the right clinic will support you not only during your treatment period but also before and after. The clinic will inform you well and support you in making the right choice. And if something goes wrong (which is of course not the case if a good clinic is chosen) then a good clinic will provide the right solution to your problem.

The most important thing to pay attention to remains the result. Make sure you well informed about the clinic as well as the treating physician. As indicated above, a poorly performed hair transplant will make you even more unhappy than naturally suffering from hair loss.

Only one properly performed hair transplant will yield successful results. With a full head of hair!
